Nice Case
After reading some of the negative reviews, I thought I should share my experience. I bought this case about a year ago for my side by side with 28 inch barrels. It fits fine, with room to spare. The divider between the barrels and stock goes all the way to the zipper, so there is no contact between the parts. One small gripe is that there is no separate pocket for the fore end, but I wrap it in a felt cloth. The external pocket could be a bit bigger. Overall, it's a nice functional case.

L.L.Bean - Double L Waxed-Cotton Breakdown Shotgun
I don't know what the designer was thinking. Most field and sporting O/U shotguns have 28" to 32" barrels with some sporting ones needing an additional 2" for extended chokes.
This shot gun case is basically worthless for most shotgunners, even those with semiautos with normal 28" to 32" barrels.
As nice as it looks, it is functionally useless unless it can handle a 30" barrel.

Protects and Saves Space
Exactly what I was looking for, to protect my O/U on short trips to the field where a hard case is cumbersome and a long case is awkward to have in my vehicle (jeep).

Excellent breakdown shotgun case
Nicely made. Pockets inside well designed to fit a broken down O/U or SxS shotgun. External pocket with Velcro and leather strap. Shoulder strap is adjustable and sturdy.

Even nicer than I expected, very well made
I didn't expect the canvas to be very thick, or waxed much, and I figured the leather would be kind of cheap, but I was wrong on all counts. The canvas is good quality, and has sufficient wax embedded in it to actually make it water proof, and the leather is decently thick and seems to be of better quality than just "genuine" leather. It has plenty of room for my 18 inch Winchester Model 12, and it's nice that is has a thick pad at the bottom of both sides. I also like how the buckle on the pouch is a real buckle and not just a magnetic fake buckle. If your gun is the full 28 inches long, it might be a bit too tight of a fit, but otherwise this bag is extremely nice and exceeded my expectations.

Falls short in a couple of places.
Case is nicely made flawed in design.
The 28" case will not hole a O/U with 28" barrels. I have tried it with several 28" barreled guns with flush chokes and none fit. This could probably be solved just by sizing up, but a case billed as for 28" barrels ought to hold them.
Secondly: the divider between the stock stops well shy of full length. This means the stock and barrels can come in contact during transport. Not acceptable.
A little more thought in design and this case would be great but it has not been conceived well.
