A new twist on a nautical tradition, our Irish fisherman cardigan sweater features a flattering shorter length and a more fitted style. In soft cotton yarns, with a beautiful open-stitch fair isle pattern.
The original fisherman's sweaters of the Aran Islands were knit with designs that told stories of a rich coastal heritage. From good luck to a plentiful catch, special sentiments were represented in each and every stitch. We've recreated these details in a fitted yet easygoing silhouette, beautifully detailed with a classic Fair Isle design.

This orchid version was my fifth purchase from this line, and I love it just as much as all the others. Since receiving it, I’ve ordered another—the Golden Retriever version. That one is terrific, too. LL Bean’s size recommendation has worked well for me, as well!

Outstanding sweater with fun design.
LLBean Signature always provides great, outstanding clothing and this sweater is such a wonderful example of the over-the-top sweaters that I simply love. Great weight and design and made of COTTON - which I love. I purchased the design with what looks like Golden Retrievers. As a dog lover and owner of three dogs, this was a great find. Worn it with a long sleeve T and received lots of compliments.

LL Bean for Fashionistas
For all of those fashionistas out there with a quiet penchant for LL Bean Signature (in terms of both quality and functionality) do not sleep on this one. I got the oatmeal with flowers version and wore it partially buttoned over a casual blue and white striped Oxford button down, a pair of distressed ankle jeans, and mustard colored mules. While it "could" look a bit too sweet, with the right outfit it is fantastic. Quality is great as normal. I am 5'6" 113 lbs and purchased the XS regular. It fits perfectly in the arms and body. I have not washed it yet but there is a tad bit of room to spare in case it does shrink.

Not as pictured
Adored this sweater in the store but they didn’t have my size. The one I ordered has the red ears and eyes. I’m shocked at this lapse in quality from LL Bean. Would love to exchange for one with dogs that don’t look possessed, but I can’t trust that what I’ll receive is what’s pictured here.

Really wanted to like this sweater, but the stitching that runs at chest height, also continues onto sleeves. The material bunches and doesn't lay flat. Please stop with the dropped shoulder look!
