Great backpack of durable materials
I was looking to replace my two LL travel bags in the photo. The green one is vintage 1983-4ish. I love it, but it's a bit small for more than 8 hrs of stuff. It carried a 'luggable Mac' around campus in the 1980s. I still use it for local day tripping. The butterscotch bag is vintage early aughts. It was my daily briefcase/ travel personal bag for the past 20ish yrs. Again, loved the bag, except its interior is unlined, and the inner coating on the bag is rotting and now sticky; not its fault. It served well and was used very hard.
My new Cordura bag is a fantastic replacement for butterscotch. It's the durable tightly woven material is similar to my green, so I am hoping it will be equally durable to my abuse of carrying heavy items, over stuffing, rain, snow, and the battering that my travel backpack endures.
I love the heavy metal zipper pulls and heavy duty zippers. Metal is important as I secure my zippers with a small twisty carabiner when I am in crowds. Love that it's lined. I hope under the lining that it's double seamed, as my old ones. The straps are padded, but still flexible, which makes them very comfortable in anything from a T-shirt to heavy jacket. The back of the bag has some laptop padding, but no bottom pads. It has a solid back panel so it should not pill and tug clothing. The interior is roomy. It will hold a laptop & notebook, size M slicker, wool hat, gloves, umbrella/bottle, still with room for other small stuff. I tend to shove my water bottle into my bag, so the mesh sides are not very useful to me. I like that it doesn’t have too many small compartments, as these can be too small to hold a meaningful amount of ‘stuff’. I keep my pens and first aid kit in a small baggie in the front. I don’t use the waist strap.
I wish it had an additional quick access hidden zipper RFID pocket on the back panel for a passport/cards, as well as a sternum strap, but these were secondary to my need for a durable exterior with simple large & roomy area. It would also be nice if the zippers pushed down into a difficult to reach area, as it does with my butterscotch bag. My husband’s request is that is come in a few other dirt-hiding colors.
All in all, love my new bag & am excited to try it on longer trips. In 20-40 years, I’ll let you know if it’s still going strong, as my others have.

4 years and still strong.
This backpack has been to several states, several countries (England, Thailand, Pakistan). I use it for work (sometimes), hiking (quite often), travel (all the time).
It is the best pack I have owned. No tear yet.
