Pockets and hood are dealbreakers
I have had this coat almost 2 years now. It is comfortably warm in New England winters, especially with a sweater underneath. I like the stylish snaps on the front.
However the pockets are just horrible. The two main pockets are extremely small and for some reason are oriented VERTICALLY. My phone can only fit in if balanced vertically, If I try to put in it horizontally (as is natural based on the placement of the pockets,) the end sticks out. Because the opening of the pockets goes all the way from the top to the bottom, you will need to zip everything into the small zippered compartment every single time otherwise stuff will easily fall out. I unfortunately lost my keys and favorite lipstick before I realized this. I almost never use the breast pocket because I would need to open the whole jacket to access it, which I don't want to do in the dead of winter. Extremely annoying especially in winter when I would like to keep gloves, tissues, maybe a hand warmer in my pockets at all times but no.
I also find the snapped on hood to be annoying because it easily unsnaps every time I pick up my jacket by the hood, and the holes left by the snaps let in cold air around my neck. Additionally I find the front zippered part that is meant to cover the neck fits too close and high (underneath my chin instead of slightly in front of it), which kind of chokes me.
Overall I am extremely disappointed by LL Bean on this one. This is another loss for women's jacket design. Although I won't be throwing it out, I am sure you could get a better designed coat somewhere else for this price point.

This coat is both attractive and functional - I love it! It was worth the extra cost as it should last several years. The hood is a great feature that keeps you warm.

Great - except pocket design
I bought this and it was perfect, but I returned it because the pockets were very small and angled. I need good pockets as I frequently walk my dog. The pocket design is the only reason I returned this great jacket.
