Disappointed
I love LL Bean products. For a number of years I was a walking billboard for LL Bean. However, I am disappointed in this reversible coat I purchased for my CKC. The Velcro does not hold well. I don’t know why. We start off fine but in a short distance, it starts coming apart. The coat is a good fit so it has nothing to do with that. Another annoying issue is the back corners on either side of her butt flare out. Because of this, the leash gets caught underneath the coat. Very annoying to have to stop to pull it out.

Great fit
This coat fits my Weimaraner very well. It's easy to get on and off, the dog likes it, and we get compliments on how good it looks on him. Very happy with my purchase.

Poor design
The coat is soft and padded well, but has a serious design flaw: the strap that goes under the dog's torso is not positioned far back enough. That means the back half is not well secured to my dog, and it rises up, undermining the warming function. It even flipped up in the wind.

Disappointing
I bought two field coats from LL Bean for my dogs several years ago and was hoping this product was similar. It arrived today and sadly is significantly lower quality. It is thin and provides less coverage.

I have a 14 lb dog and the coat is way too small for her . We bought a size small from a competitor and it’s was too big .

Nice warm coat that stays in place.
This is a really nice, warm coat. I have an 80-lb. Labrador retriever who will be 12 years old, so I wanted to make sure she would still be comfortable on our winter hikes. Based on other reviews I bought an extra-large, and it fits really well - perhaps just a little bit big. The extra large covers her back all the way to the base of her tail, so that's a positive feature. She's about the smallest size dog for an extra large vest, but the velcro straps don't have ends that will catch on anything. It's easy to get on and off, doesn't restrict her movement, and is tough enough to stay in place when she goes crashing through thorny bushes. We were out for a couple of hours with light snow falling, and I noticed the back of the jacket was getting wet. When I took it off her the inside of the jacket was still warm and dry. I bought the Canyon Rust color so that I could see her when we're wandering in the woods for an autumn hike. It's not as bright as a blaze-orange vest but still increases her visibility.
