A Case Point in LLBean's Loss of Sizing Control
I've been a significant buyer of LLBean's clothing items for over 45 years. In recent years, my purchases have slowed. Why? Bean's sizing has become inconsistent. The introduction of multiple "fits" has further complicated the issue but are not, in and of themselves, the problem. Three months ago, I purchased a Mountain Classic fleece size XXL. It was a very good fit. When I saw this Sweater Fleece with a modest price reduction, I ordered a XXL. After a a near two-week traverse of the U.S. and Canada, the fleece arrived. I swim in it - the sizing is HUGE and substantially larger than the XXL is purchased only a few months ago. I frankly am not interested in two-week long rolls of the dice. While I will probably shop the limited inventory at Bean's store here in Victoria from time to time, I surely will no longer be rolling the dice and making two-way business for UPS.

I have a black better sweater I usually wear to church , these were on sale so I got one .
Wore it over a flannel shirt layered with a Houdini .. made an easy on and off . I wore that combo all day . , not needing a parka or jacket over it . Did not overheat at all ….just a perfect fit of layers. I liked it so much I bought another one , not on sale . Big snow/ sleet storm hit DC , The new sweater came and I wore that combo again to shovel snow all afternoon . I added a rogue weight belt between the Houdini and the sweater…. I am happy to have such a great performance combo …. The better sweater still only going to church as it is black. If LLBean gets a black option I will come back for a third one .
