In 1936 when Leon Leonwood Bean first introduced these shoes, he compared them to the unique comfort of a handmade Native American moccasin. That soft, custom-made feel is still apparent in each shoe sewn today.

So Close to Great
The shoes are just fine. They run true to size and are well made. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that they just didn't quite match my expectations.
Over the last 35+ years I purchased the Camp Moc (Dk. Brown) time and again. But it's been a couple of decades since I've owned the Blucher Moc and this pair left me wanting. It's the leather finish that had me consider returning them. To my eye it comes off a bit plastic and unremarkable. Sorry, I don't know how to better describe it. In the end I kept them and worked some conditioner into the leather to get rid of that somewhat "cheap" look and they're now what I was hoping for.

Not your normal shoes
I have no problem with the design persay, but at the same time, they are not what I thought I was going to receive.
-The test I used, with the thin soles during winter, meant that they are uncomfortable.
-Thicker socks do to winter conditions, made this shoe even more uncomfortable during the test.
-I ordered the wider size, and I am glad I did. Even so, they are not
wide enough. I did follow the English sizing chart, and they still to tight.
However, the same cannot be said about their Gum Shoes, which are perfect.
-The color is not as dark as the photo displayed, and they do not go well with darker pants.
-The summer vibe with khaki shorts and liner socks are more realistic for these shoes.
-The POSITIVE aspect ... They are a well built shoe.
It is your call, but I am just letting you know what to expect
when you purchase these shoes.
Perhaps the darker style of this shoe would do more justice to your wardrobe.

Shoes returned, waiting for replacement pair
I love this look and feel of this shoe, but the right shoe had a manufacturer's defect... The outer top rim was 1/4 inch shorter than the left. This make the shoes severely mis-align when the laces were tied.
The shoes were returned and I am waiting for the replacement pair.

Bought mine around 1985, going thru their 4th resolving I I can’t say enough about these shoes. I also have some Bean boots from 1987.
