Product Details

We've improved on the original 1934 design of this knife with a new finger groove for better grip and a 5Cr15 stainless-steel blade that retains an edge.

  • Handle:: 4½".
  • Blade:: 4¼".

Our founder, Leon Leonwood Bean, described this knife as "great for cleaning game fish and very handy for general camp and home use." This improved version holds true to its heritage while featuring modern improvements like a finger groove for better grip and a durable 5Cr15 stainless-steel blade.

  • New finger groove allows better grip and positioning.
  • Three brass rivets reliably hold the handle to the tang.
  • Durable full-tang design with blade made from easy-to-sharpen 5Cr15 stainless steel.
  • Same rosewood handle with L.L.Bean logo as the original from 1934.
  • Includes genuine leather belt sheath.
Rated 5 de 5 de par Great outdoorsman knife Great field knife. Holds edge well. Use this knife ice fishing, breasting out wild turkey, waterfowl and upland game.

Rated 1 de 5 de par L.L.Bean should put the blade in the sheath. The two I received which I only opened one box the knife would not fit in the sheath so I returned both.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Grandsons - like this knife. I have this knife, and find it to be the perfect field knife, manageable in size, stays sharp, limber enough to filet a fish and tough enough to cut rope or use around the camp fire. I bought one for each of my grandsons.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Beautiful Knife and Sheath Sturdy filet knife for trout. Just needs a sharpening every now and then, like any other knife. Classic knife.

Rated 1 de 5 de par SO DISAPPOINTED Have been using my grandmother's and mother's Bean's trout knives since I was a kid. Have worn about 5 to a skinny short blade since 1970 wedding present from Mom and it was time for another new one. Old carbon steel blades from 1930s through the 90s (?) get razor sharp. Even stainless blade of Chicago Cutlery Bean's knife purchased in the early 2000's are pretty good after sharpening. THIS WON'T CUT A TOMATO without smooshing it. Won't penetrate a plastic sausage roll wrapper without a point-pierce first. Sharpened and sharpened and sharpened... Older knives will bite your finger if you even get close...this one won't even penetrate when you lay it on...

Rated 3 de 5 de par Made in china Can llbean not find a USA manufacture to make this simple knife? I bought this knife to carry on my fishing trips. I wanted something simple and long lasting but not made in China.

Rated 2 de 5 de par What a shame! It is a shame that L.L. Bean could not see their way clear to provide a quality sheath with this knife. The knife itself is decent enough but the sheath screams CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!

Rated 4 de 5 de par not the same as grampa's My grandfathers original knife which I now own is a thin flex blade that is not full tang. the new knife is full tang like the old Herters camp knife that he left me. 2 completely different blade styles , the new model is razor sharp , excellent for cleaning fish and game . new knife is stiff with a little flex , fits great in the hand, and when it's missing my Wife has it in the camp kitchen because it is sharp .
