Warm coat for Illinois winters
I rated this coat five stars based on warmth. The downfalls are: it’s heavy, cumbersome in a car, hood is bulky and difficult to get crossbody purse over it and the zipper is finicky. I don’t regret buying it because it does keep me warm. I also like the material it’s made from. It’s not the shiny puffy coat you see so many of. Rain beads up on the fabric too. Plenty of pockets and yes, the front pockets sit a little low like others have mentioned. I’m 5’8” so it’s not inconvenient for me. I purchased a medium, I’m a size 12, and it fits great. I can even wear a flannel Sherpa lined shirt underneath and have plenty of room. To solve the bulky hood, I unzipped the fur. It’s easier to see now and crossbody purse is able to maneuver over it more easily.

Go to coat for the deep cold
I purchased this coat 3 years ago and it is still my go to when the weather is bitterly cold. Winter white was my choice and it’s as beautiful today as when I first purchased it. The oversizing is perfect for freedom of movement without being stifling.

I had my NorthFace down parka for 17 years and after trying many brands I knew none would match the warmth and wind resistance of the one I had. After searching for 2 years I noticed this one online. I live in Manitoba Canada so had to rely on the reviews.
Excellent for warmth and wind resistance with its tough material.
So many classy details - black stitching, Llbean logo near the bottom, side gathers with 3 snap options etc.
Because of reading previous reviews I was able to get the perfect fit. I am 5 feet 6” and 138 pounds. The regular xs fits perfect. Sleeves are long enough, the jacket dips further down at the back. Not much room for bulky sweaters but better than being overly large from what other reviewers mentioned for my size wearing a small.
Love the inside cuffs which are a must for warmth. The fur on the hood zips off if desired. The inside orange is a classy colour not just straight ‘hunters orange’.
I ordered the khaki green as the black was sold out and it is a good 2nd choice for colour.
The last but important feature is it has a smart womanly style something the Fjallraven parka did not offer.

Great jacket
I love this jacket and it fits great. And breaks in as it’s is stiff at first. What is disappointing is that you cannot replace the fur hood lining. I have had this 2 years now and took unzipped it and took it off as it was raining and ended up leaving it in a hotel room and bummed I cannot buy the replacement fur hood lining for a $400 coat.

Cute coat
Warmest coat I’ve ever purchased. I almost didn’t buy it because of other reviews about the zipper. I haven’t had a problem with it at all. I live in the northeast and hike with my dog twice a day in sometimes brutal weather. I put the hood up and I’m good to go. It’s well made and will last for years. Happy with my purchase.

Very warm / limited visibility
I purchased this coat because it was labeled "warmest". I can attest to the fact that it is warm. I would like to give it 5 stars but can't because of two issues that may seem minor to some people. First, the hood blocks your vision to the sides. And before you ask, YES I have it adjusted to be as far back from my face as possible. I will try removing the 'fur' trim to see if that improves. I was at a walk through holiday light display and had to put the hood down because I kept running into people at my sides because I didn't see them. Secondly, It can be difficult to zip up. The coat is bulky and trying to zip a black zipper on a black coat when you can barely see the end is quite difficult.
