Not Built For Work
I'm a carpenter, and I've owned a few pairs of these. I've noticed that they used to be called "work" boots, but have since dropped the word in the name. And the declining quality reflects that. It's unfortunate, as it is a very comfortable pair of boots that comes in wide sizing- but on this most recent pair, the inside heel has been destroyed in a matter of months. The sole is wearing quickly. This will be my last pair of these, which is a bummer because the fit is nice. But I just can't abide the poor quality from a company that supposedly prides itself on such a claim. Will not stand up to physical labor!

cheap quality boot
I have worn this boot for about a month, and the sole is already severely worn down. This is an extremely cheap sole! I ordered a pair of L.L.Bean Katahdin Iron Work boots back in 2015, and the soles on those boots are perfectly fine, and I've been wearing them for almost 10 years. I was hoping this boot would serve as a replacement for my 10-year-old boot because the leather on that pair started to deteriorate. But, clearly, L.L.Bean uses cheap materials nowadays, so I will be looking at other brands for boots.

Durable and well-made
I got a pair for Christmas a year ago and put many miles on them. They have held up very well. I would prefer speed hooks on the top two eyelets, but no big deal...

Great for city walking.
Great boots, no break in required, super comfortable, I ride public transit in Chicago so I walk a lot, great for walking. I use them down to 30 degrees with LL Bean mid weight hiking sock, feet stay warm, could probably go lower but I have lots of other boots for that.

I have had these boots for a month now so I think it fair time to give them an evaluation. These are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned, and I am 62 years old and did quite a bit of hiking in my younger years. I have put quite a few miles on these and I love them. Sturdy and soooo comfortable.
