Great for outdoor activities
I bought this jacket 3 years ago. It is a great jacket. In heavy rain for 2 hours it kept me dry (nothing under the jacket was wet). I use it for mountain biking when is colder as it blocks the wind and is breathable with the underarm zippers. Great for backpacking in the mountains. I have used it as a shell for winter (-10C), but I'm not sure if I would recommend it for temperatures colder than that.
It fits smaller, specially around neck and arms, so take that into account.

Very versatile, but a couple of misses
I've only had this jacket for a few days, but I have already enjoyed its versatility. It's great simply as a windbreaker on my early morning walks when the temperature is cool. Likewise, it's perfect in a warm-weather (60-70F) rain. I don't find the lining problematic, since I have worn it with t-shirts, with short and long sleeves. Sizing seems right to me. I weigh 140 and usually wear a medium in coats. It's not too big to be worn alone and it fits over some of my heavier coats making them rainproof. On the downside, the main zipper is disappointment, not at all what I have come to expect from LL Bean. When compared to the quality of my LL Bean Maine warden's parka, it's much less than one would expect. It's zipper is one-direction only and easily gets stuck if zipped all the way up. One other minor complaint: the usual loop near the neck of the jacket for a hanger is missing. So hanging it up so it doesn't slip off he hanger and land on the floor of the closet is a hit or miss situation.

Waterproof and visible
Bright, beautiful and waterproof I had one that lasted over 25 years. So glad to have this with me. Essential for wet and windy weather. A sweater or sweatshirt fits well under it true to size.

Not as durable as stated
Purchased this to use for outdoor activities, such as working in the rain and river fishing and I can tell you it will not last. While the outer material seems to be a bit stiffer than the casual rain jackets its not work rated. You would think for $300 it would be made with ripstop or an anti abrasive pattern. Going through bushes or rubbing up against something will destroy this jacket quickly.

Top of the line
An outstanding jacket. Stands up to whatever Mother Nature sends your way. Really like the hood design. No more soaked baseball cap brims. I am a medium in most everything and this was true with this coat. Able to still fit a sweatshirt or vest under it comfortably.

My Review
I purchased an LL Bean GoreTex rain jacket in 2001 and it served me quite well, The price of the new jacket was higher than competitive brands but I decided to purchase it given the great results with the 2001 model. The new jacket does keep you will protected from the rain but I find the fabric quite stiff and the construction inferior to the 2001 model. Given the cost I can only rate it 3 stars.

Great Shell
LL Bean did a great job with this jacket. Great fit and love all of the pockets. I was not ready in the market for a new rain shell, but the design won me over. I'm 6' 1", 235 lbs and got a XXL. Bigger than I need for summer, but leaves room for colder weather layers.

Good
Overall it's lightweight, the color is great, and it keeps me dry. One star reduction because the hood doesn't stay up. The stiffness of the collar makes it slide down.
