Our twist on a classic, with authentic Aran Island cables. This timeless crewneck sweater is made from crisp cotton yarns that are substantial and reach further into the seasons.
The original fisherman's sweaters of the Aran Islands were knit with designs that told stories of a rich coastal heritage. From good luck to a plentiful catch, special sentiments were represented in each and every stitch. We've recreated those same authentic cable patterns in a crewneck that's as timeless as its inspiration - made from densely-knit cotton yarns for three-season appeal.

Looks great, feels great, but too big
This top is boxy and baggy, doesn't look the same fit as the online photo. I’m 5’1, 138 lbs. I bought a petite large. I most often wear a large, sometimes a medium but in this sweater I’m sure a small would fit best. For reference this sweater laying flat measure 23” across from armpit to armpit. The length is perfect and so are the arms.

This beige/tan doesn’t look good with black pants
Catalog & web photo colors of this look lighter than it is. This looks good with all beige/tan/medium & dark browns. It’s “tan” enough to not look very good with black pants which is what I mostly wear. The cotton yarns used to construct it are very thick. I also got this sweater in Women's Signature Cotton Fisherman Sweater, the fair isle dog design in a color Bean calls River Rock. I’m uploading a photo so you can seen the sweater colors side by side. The background is a Bean cotton throw I got years ago. I was hoping this sweater would be closer to the color of my throw. That color would go with browns & blacks. I’m returning this one. I’ve found a website where I can order an Aran pullover from Ireland in merino wool in the color I want for the same $ as this one. The PXL fits as expected. I’m 5’4”, 40D with 16.5” across my shoulders. There’s plenty of room to wear a shirt or turtleneck under this sweater. I order petite for sleeve and garment lengths. I do not wear tops that reach below my crotch. Even with Petites, I have to roll up sleeves of Bean sweaters, cardigans & long sleeve shirts😔.

Meh fit
I bought one of these sweaters several years ago I really liked it. The fit has changed. Arms are baggy and body is cropped - at least on me - I'm 5ft 9. The neck is also weirdly big. I wear a 6/8 and the medium fit width wise like the model but I have a bust. I'd prefer a slightly tighter arm and another inch or two in length. If you're 5ft 7 this will fit you well. The quality is there but I'm not a fan of the cut.

My New Favorite Sweater
I am thrilled with this sweater. I would describe it as substantial, timeless, versatile, comfortable, and well made. Note: It is not fitted, as it appears on the model in the top two photos.
